It's kind of last second to announce this, but starting tomorrow night I'll be attending Stellarcon in High Point, NC for the next three days. I'll be helping teach a writing workshop on Saturday and Sunday morning. As one is has never been shy about offering advice on writing, it's a good gig for me.
Stellarcon is perhaps the smallest con I regularly attend. (Trinoccon used to hold that title, but I'm not sure it's going to happen this year.) It's a good con for lounging around and chatting with folks whose subsets of geekiness overlap my own. Gamers, comic book readers, science buffs... plenty of folks who know where their towels are. (I can safely assume most people there will get that reference.)
Hopefully I can find a fellow Smallville fan to share my grief with. Smallville had been really good this season, with actions and characters of consequence developing nicely, but tonight they were back to their old ways, giving us an hour of drama that gets wiped out with a wave of a magic wand (or a magic ring, in this case). I actually saw this ending coming when the Legion left Clark the ring, but I thought at least tonights plot thread would play out a few episodes and build to a moment of real tension and choice on Clark's part. As it is, he didn't really lose anything this time around. Still, I'll stick around for the rest of the season, at least. I'm hoping Green Arrow puts in an appearance again soon.
